If you still haven’t installed WordPress on your eHost account, then you need to return to Step 2 and follow the instructions there.
Once you have WordPress installed, you can start blogging.
Here, I’m going to give you a few basic on how it all works, but most bloggers figure out how to customize the site after making a couple of posts.
You want to customize your posts according to your taste but also according to the needs of you readers. This offers a few basic things you can do, but the next step in this blogging tutorial will show you a few more options to help you personalize your blog even further.
- Log In
To begin, you need to login to your WordPress site. To do this go to http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin.
Just type in this URL address browser address bar or copy and paste it in.
Remember to replace “yoursite.com” with the actual name of your domain name. Enter your login and password that you chose when you performed the WordPress installation.
You don’t need to remember your username and password. Just refer to the emails that WordPress sent you. It should take you to screen like this:
Configuring your Blog
when you log in change to your WordPress administration control panel. The area that lets you change the look of your blog, complete your the name and the layout as well as add or delete special features.
The first thing you’ll want to do is change the title of your blog. In the left menu, the area that is Black, you’ll find an option that says “Settings.”
This screen allows you to change your “Website Title” and the subtitle, which is called your “Tagline” here. Enter the titles you want and then scroll down to the bottom of the page and select “Save Changes.”
To view your changes, click on the name of your website located in the upper left hand corner. You can also see the changes by clicking on the “Preview Page” button located on the right hand menu. Note; any changes you make and save will automatically call live on your new blog.
How To Write Your First Post
Blogging is all about writing, so let’s learn how to write your first blog post.
Go to the left menu and click on “Posts”. (Click the image below to see a larger version.)
You will see there is already a post there titled “Hello world!” This is a default post on every new WordPress blog, and we don’t need it. To delete it click “Trash” just under the post.
To begin writing a new post, click the “Add New” link (found in either the left menu or next to the word “Posts”).
You should now be on the post creator screen. You can enter the title of your post in the top box and then begin writing your post in the lower box.
If you would like to add a picture to your post, click on the “Add Media” button and click “Select Files” to upload a picture from your computer.
